Weigela florida 'Minuet'
Type:Shrubs
Zone:4
Fertilizing Code:04/20 to 04/21
Pruning Code:07/08 to 07/09

Description:
A small, compact rounded shrub with bronze tinted dark green foliage all summer long. Ruby red trumpet shaped flowers have yellow throats and are fragrant, blooming in June.

Care Instruction:
Soil and Moisture: Weigela grow well in most any soil type, but do depend on good drainage. The plants will perform best if kept evenly moist throughout the spring and summer months.
Fertilizing: These are not fussy feeders and one application of 10-10-10 fertilizer in the spring will encourage a heavier bloom period.
Pruning: Prune out any winter dieback in early spring. If you wish to trim in order to control shape and size, then do so immediately after flowering.
Special Notes: Mature plants respond quite well to the selective pruning of the older stems in the center of the plant. This rejuvenates the shrub by forcing new, young shoots to grow.
