Lilac 'President Poincaire'
Syringa vulgaris 'President Poincaire'

Pruning Code:10/29 to 10/30

Care Instruction:
Soil and Moisture: Lilacs are adaptable to most any soil type and do not need unusual amounts of organic matter. They do however, appreciate decent drainage so avoid heavy clay in low areas.
Fertilizing: A light application of 10-10-10 granular fertilizer around the base of the plant in the spring. One application per season is sufficient, and with this plant more is defintely not better.
Pruning: Selectively prune out the older, thick stems from the center at ground level. Do this in the late fall once leaves have dropped to make the task much easier.
Special Notes: If you wish to trim the outer canopy to keep a desired shape, do so immediately after flowering. Waiting to long will cause a lack of bloom the following spring.
